Every single Capcom CD that I ever chance to hear sounds the same. Kinda the way King Of Fighters 94', 95', 96', 97', 98', 99', 00', 01', and 02 are the same. But, who am I to judge.
Capcom is doing their usual "stuck in a rut" routine with 19XX - The War Against Destiny OST. Nothing at all is outstanding and nothing at all is bad. Nothing is really worth listening to, but yet nothing is really worth losing. It's a strange paradox.
They usually lead into a song nicely. Example is Dance Of Green Gnome. Very nice intro with a bongo drum and a slappin' bass line. But then they throw some synth garbage on top of it. It isn't all that bad, but it's not what makes the song that great either.
Songs like Silver Ice Sheet have you saying, "Been there, done that". And you have. Pick any of the Megaman X games and they'll be at least two songs that sound like this one. Nothing new.
A tried and tested formula that worked over 15 years ago remains unchanged, and it looks like that's going to be the fate for most of Capcom's OST. Unfortunately, that formula is going to keep them in the dark ages with their OST's for a long time, it seems.
