Piano pieces are particularly nice, soothing, when they're done right. With the music based off of Nobuo Uematsu's famed Final Fantasy series, and also, arguably best soundtrack in the series, Final Fantasy VI, you know that you are going to get more than a treat.
Knocking off all pretensions one may have of Uematsu, there still is no reason not to truly enjoy the wonderful work found here. Every time I listen to the theme song for Final Fantasy VI, Tina, I'm still reminded so much of the theme song to a popular soap opera featured here in America, Days of Our Lives... I think. The name always escapes me, but the intro notes to Tina remind me so much of such a soap opera.
Gau is well done as well, like any version of Gau usually is. It's smooth, but at the same time upbeat, the momentum moving along swiftly and evenly. The gradual decline of the force makes it even more beautiful.
Johnny C Bad is probably one of the better Tavern songs I've heard in a long time. I'm guessing that this song is done in the C note's, thus why it's called Johnny C Bad. But enough of my speculating, the song in general is very upbeat, which I never imagined a piano song ever being. It also has a nice length to it, 3 and half minutes, one of the few long songs on the album.
This really is a great album. Amazingly, I have no real complaint with this album. The replay value is pretty high, and over the years, I still find myself listening to this album. Everything is executed perfectly, reflecting on all the better songs (which really are all of them) from Final Fantasy VI and translating them into piano masterpieces. Definitely something to make any Final Fantasy VI fan happy.
